My name is Dave Sharpe and I am a 34 year old IFMGA British Mountain Guide based in Chamonix, France.
I have been climbing for over 20 years and skiing for almost as long. Throughout this time I have been fortunate enough to be able to pursue my passion from first steps climbing around my home in the Lake District to further afield in the UK, Norway and the European Alps. I enjoy many different types of climbing, but feel especially passionate about British winter and alpine climbing. In recent years I have also done a lot of expedition climbing to Alaska and India. For me this takes all the best bits and (hopefully!) merges them into an amazing trip and unforgettable experiences.
My time skiing began purely as a means of travel around the Alps when climbing during the snowier months. This however quickly changed and I now enjoy spending a large part of the winter skiing, ski-mountaineering and ski guiding. I really enjoy the terrain the European Alps have to offer, and in winter there really is no better way to get around!
I am an IFMGA British Mountain Guide. I love my job and being able to share some of the amazing experiences I have had in the mountains with many other people. I also work regularly in offshore rope access as an IRATA L3 supervisor.
On this site you will find tales of my latest adventures, conditions reports, gear reviews and lots of pretty pictures which will hopefully give you some ideas of nice places to go and good things to do.
I hope you enjoy it!
